Bethel Cafe is Anchorage's neighborhood bakery and grocery. We bake from scratch every morning, stock the everyday things you need, and pour coffee like we mean it. Pull up a chair.
Bethel Cafe started with a simple idea: a bakery and grocery where neighbors actually know each other's names. We opened our doors on C Street with a small oven, a handful of recipes we'd practiced for years, and a belief that good food should be easy to find.
Today we're still doing the same thing — baking bread before dawn, stocking shelves with the items Anchorage relies on, and making sure the coffee pot is never empty. Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or lingering over a slice of pie, we're glad you're here.
Everything we make is done in-house, and everything we shelf is something we'd keep in our own pantry.
Loaves baked every morning — sourdough, whole wheat, multigrain, and seasonal specials. Crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, always fresh.
Baked Daily
Butter croissants, cinnamon rolls, fruit pies, and savory tarts — rotated throughout the morning so you get the best of the batch.
Fresh Through the Morning
Local Alaska-roasted coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and cold brew. We keep the cups full and the mugs clean — that's a promise.
Alaska-Roasted
The things you need — coffee, milk, bread, snacks, cooking basics, and local Alaskan products. If it belongs in a well-kept kitchen, we probably have it.
Everyday EssentialsWe don't take shortcuts with the food, and we don't take shortcuts with the people who eat it.
Our bakers are here while most of Anchorage is still asleep. That means warm bread and fresh pastries are on the counter by the time you walk in.
We partner with Alaskan farms and producers whenever possible. The ingredients taste better because they haven't traveled across the country to get here.
You'll find regulars who've been coming since day one, and newcomers who walk in wondering what all the fuss is about. Everyone leaves with a smile.
In a rush? We've got sandwiches, wrapped pastries, and cold drinks ready to go. Quality food that fits in your hand and your schedule.
The best compliment we get is when someone tells a friend about us — or just comes back.
"I stop in every morning on my way to work. The sourdough is the best in Anchorage, and the staff always remembers my order. It's the little routines that make a city feel like home."
"Moved to Anchorage two years ago and Bethel Cafe was one of the first places I found. It's become my go-to for everything — breakfast, groceries, and honestly just a warm place to sit."
"The pie selection alone is worth the drive. But it's the way everyone here treats you like you belong that keeps me coming back. This is what a neighborhood bakery should be."
We're right in the heart of Anchorage. Walk in anytime — the coffee's on and there's always room for one more.
